SK Hynix is a South Korea based memory semiconductor supplier of dynamic random access memory chips and flash memory chips. Hynix is the world’s second-largest memory chipmaker and the world’s sixth-largest semiconductor company. The company's products are used as major components in digital versatile disk players, cellular phones, set-top boxes, personal digital assistants, personal computers, hard disk drives, modems and a variety of telecommunications and networking equipment.

The company classifies its business operations into two reportable segments, namely, Semiconductors and non-memory semiconductors. The Semiconductors segment deals in two types of products, namely, dynamic random access memory (DRAM), and NAND flash memory. The company's Non-memory semiconductors segment undertakes the development of complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors used in various digital imaging products. CIS products are used in web-cameras, camera phones and small imaging devices used in medical applications.
