Biopesticides Market by Active Ingredient (Microbials & Biorationals), by Types (Bioinsecticides, Biofungicides, Bionematicides & Bioherbicides), by Application, by Formulation, by Crop Type & by Geography - Global trends & forecasts to 2019

Biopesticides are less toxic than conventional pesticides. Biopesticides generally affect only the target pest and closely related organisms, in contrast to broad spectrum, conventional pesticides that may affect organisms as different as birds, insects, and mammals. Biopesticides often are effective in very small quantities and often decompose quickly, thereby resulting in lower exposures and largely avoiding pollution problems caused by conventional pesticides. When used as a component of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, biopesticides can greatly decrease the use of conventional pesticides, while crop yields remain high.

Farmers’ increasing concerns towards the prevention of use of crop protection chemicals, rising private investments, and venture funding to support new product development, and growing government support to magnify the adoption of organic crop protection products are the key factors READ MORE >

Agriculture and horticulture growers face significant challenges to maximize the returns on their investments. This requires efficient use of inputs. Farmer’s income is eventually dependent upon crop quality and yield. Biopesticides are included as standard inputs in production programs as a means to significantly improve quality and yield of crops under various challenging conditions. Such inputs include a range of both microbial and biochemical biopesticides. It is used to protect the crop from insect pests, pathogens, and weeds that limit the crop’s access to valuable resources such as water, sunlight, or nutrients. Thus, biopesticides help to uphold crop health thereby increasing its salability. In organic production systems, biopesticides represent the most significant crop protection tools that a grower has to produce a quality crop.

Biopesticides include the various types of crop protection products that areapplied in farms to prevent the damage caused by pests and increase the yield. Biopesticides are eco-friendly products which include organic ingredients for killing the pests to prevent crop damage. Huge prevalence of damage caused by pests and increasing population in both developed and developing nations are the key drivers that will contribute to the growth of this market.

The biopesticides market has reached saturation levels in North America and Europe. The global biopesticides market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.0%, and is projected to generate a value of $4,369.88 million by 2019.

The global biopesticides market is marked with intense competition due to the presence of large number of both big and small firms. New product launches and partnerships and collaborations are the key strategies adopted by market players to ensure their growth in the market. The market is dominated by players such as AgraQuest, Inc. (U.S.), Marrone Bio Innovations Inc. (U.S.), Certis USA LLC (U.S.), and Koppert Biological Systems (The Netherlands).

The global biopesticides market was valued at $1,796.56 million and is growing at a CAGR of 16.0% from 2014 to 2019.
