The global market for thermic fluid was 360 kilo tons in 2009 which increased to 384.9 kilo tons in 2010. Growing demand from major end use industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals etc is one of the major factors which have been driving the market for thermic fluid. Thermic fluids are commonly referred to as heat transfer fluids and thermal fluids. The main function of these fluids is to store heat, to prevent excess heating of any thermal device and to transfer heat from one device to other. Thermic fluids have a wide range of products including hydrocarbon or mineral oil based fluids, silicone based fluids, aromatic fluids and glycol based fluids. These fluids are available in different grades for different temperatures generally ranging from – 80oC to 400oC.
