This report covers the design analysis of an Alcatel-Lucent WCDMA 850MHz 9341 40W Remote Radio Unit. This unit is part of the WCDMA base station platform for Alcatel-Lucent. The unit was manufactured in Q1 2009.

Key Findings:
- The RF duplexer filter size at 850MHz caused a redesign of the entire RRU casing resulting in special cover for the filter.
- Alcatel-Lucent used tamper proof TORX screws to prevent non-authorized user from opening the unit and discovering its secrets. This is the only vendor we are aware of using this screw technology for their products.
- Alcatel-Lucent is using its MCR radio transceiver architecture for its RRU product platform
- Custom VCO modules are used for the transmit and receive timing
