This report is an update of the original profile published by BSG in February 2011.
Reed Exhibitions, a subsidy of the Reed Elsevier Group, is one of the largest global exhibitions, conference and meetings organisers. The company grew in part through a series of mergers and acquisitions in the U.S., Asia and Europe to form what was in 1986 known as Reed Exhibition Companies. The subsequent addition of businesses from the acquisition of Miller Freeman Europe in 2000 better established the company’s global presence as an exhibition organiser. Reed Exhibitions has now built a portfolio of over 500 events in 39 countries employing over 3,000 staff members engaged in exhibition-related activities.
Reed Exhibition’s (Reed) events serve 44 different industry sectors. Reed has a network of 33 offices worldwide. The company’s global head office is located in London and its Asian headquarters is in Singapore. Reed also has a portfolio of events and partners in emerging markets including Brazil, Russia, India, China and the Middle East.
Reed Exhibitions posted overall revenues of £707 million (US$1.1 billion) in 2011 that is roughly the same as in 2010. That figure represents about 12% of the overall Reed Elsevier Group revenues figure.
Reed does not report fully detailed financials for its Asia Pacific exhibitions; however, BSG estimates that its Asian revenues are somewhere between US$240 million and US$260 million.
