Born in 1964, Wiebke Salzmann studied physics at Braunschweig TU, where she wrote her doctorate on magnetosphere physics. From 1996 until 2000 she researched soil physics at the University of Rostock. Since 2000 W. Salzmann has not been working solely as a physicist, but also as an editor and author of expert and popular science books. She has written a number of articles and short stories, such as "The Short Story", a regular column of funny stories from the world of physics in the journal "Physik in unserer Zeit" (Wiley–VCH). W. Salzmann is a member of the Editorial Board for the Wiley–VCH Journal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science.
