This study was done on a state and zone level. One of the reason that Automotive companies do not succeed is because they do not do a proper macro level market study and understand the dynamics. For example Maharashtra is one of the important states for Commercial Vehicles for both LCV and M&HCV. The Kerala market is a small market for Heavy duty trucks but for Light and Medium duty trucks, it is the second largest market. Behind the success of BharatBenz, this segment played a major role. BharatBenz was a market leader within the company sales figures.
Similarly for Gujarat, there are a lot of construction work going on so there is a need for bigger 31T tippers for on road application. In the North region there are many logistics companies and it is a plain surface therefore requiring Haulage trucks. In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, major construction companies are located, requiring heavy tipper trucks.
