About Non-vascular Stents

A non-vascular stent is a tube shaped like a blood vessel that is used to open a passage between two hollow spaces in the body. This type of stent is an implantable device made up of materials such as ninitol, cobalt-chromium alloys, and silicone. The stents are designed to maintain the patency of stenotic vessels. Non-vascular stents are used to make a pathway in the body to carry bodily fluid, to enable the transfer of air in obstructed natural circulatory pathways, and to treat palliative-stage cancers, strictures, and other medical conditions. Moreover, they are widely used in oesophageal, colonic, biliary, bronchial, and tracheal implantations.

The analysts forecast the global non-vascular stents market to grow at a CAGR of 5.24% during the period 2016-2020.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Allium Medical, EFER Endoscopy, Amecath, Applied Medical, BIOTEQ, BVM Medical, Coloplast, ConMed, ELLA-CS, Hobbs Medical, Taewoong Medical, EndoChoice, Merit Medical Systems, Novatech, Olympus, Surgimedik, Merit Endotek, and Xlumena.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “Advances in technology have resulted in the introduction of stents in a wide range of sizes, designs, and materials. A typical gastrointestinal or urologic stent is about 18 cm. There are other micro stents available for different stent applications. The use of biodegradable polymer in non-vascular stents has the advantages of biocompatibility and eliminating the need for stent removal.”

According to the report, the increased incidence of gastrointestinal disorders such as colon cancer, rectal cancer, and other urological conditions, coupled with the aging population, is driving market growth.

Further, the report states that complications associated with non-vascular stents restricts the market growth.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
