The market for global Turbine air filtration is expected to be USD XX million at the end of the year 2015 and by the end of 2020 it is estimated to reach USDXX million. The market is expected to grow at a rate of 6.3%.

Turbine air filtration system is a critical system for a turbine. The air filtration operates by controlling the flow of moisture, dust, and various abrasive chemicals into the turbine. If left unchecked these materials can cause turbine fouling, corrosion, erosion, and blade deformation issues. These activities lead to lowering of turbine performance and reduction in life of the expensive turbine. So to protect the turbine and prevent the avoidable losses modern turbines use multiple filters in different stages. The air filter selection and placement is dependent on the local operating environment and the performance objective of the turbine. Also life cycle cost analysis is another consideration for the selection of the air filters.

Fouling happens when external particles with size ranging from 2 to 10 microns get attached to the turbine blades. Common culprits for fouling are sea salts, carbon, oil mist and carbon. These items create roughness on the blades and times may even alter the shape of the blade. The design of the blades are key to efficiency of the turbine. Thus fouling directly impacts the efficiency of the turbine and also power output. The advantage of installing turbine air filtration system is that it protects the turbine and its blades from multiple challenges. This gives an opportunity to not only increase the service life of the turbine but also to reduce the mean time before failure. The challenges are present in the form of corrosion and erosion of the turbine and blades due to moisture and solid particles present in the contaminants. Corrosion is caused by impurity that enter in gas stream, water and fuel. Minerals like sodium, vanadium and chlorine and sulphur oxides along with moisture can corrode the material. Abrasive materials that are present in the air can cause erosion of the blades. Preventive solution in the form of turbine air filters can greatly reduce this problem by removing the erosion and corrosion causing particles and chemicals. Furthermore unscheduled turbine stop and start-up wear are also reduced due to the air filtration system that restricts the flow of unwanted materials into the turbine. This leads to increased availability of the turbine and hence better productivity. Moreover the flow of abrasive materials can block the cooling components of the turbine that leads to overheating and increased stress and eventual damage to the turbines. Therefore the use of turbine inlet filter should be used for lesser abrasive material which results in lesser wear and tear of the turbine and so lower maintenance cost.

The market has also been geographically segmented. All the major regions including North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and Middle East & Africa are analysed in this report. Of these regions, the North America has in the past few years provided the largest demand. However Asia-Pacific region is expected to dominate the demand table during the study period. Even though the Chinese and Japanese economies are currently facing slowdown they still represent significant industrial market. Apart from these India is huge prospective market for this product.

The major companies involved in the turbine air filtration market are, Camfil, GE energy, Donaldson DencoHappel, Shinwa Corporation, Koch Filter Corporation etc. currently the major companies are focusing on the air filtration system based on HEPA (High-efficiency particulate arrestance) technology.
