About Enteral Feeding Devices

Patients who are unable to eat, digest, and absorb nutrients from the small intestine require enteral-assisted feeding. Enteral feeding devices provide nutrition via the gastrointestinal tract, which is the fastest, cost-effective, and preferred physiological method of feeding.

Medical conditions that require enteral feeding include malnutrition, neurologic disorders, swallowing disorders, anatomical or post-surgical malformations of the mouth, eosinophilic disorders, cancer, and digestive disorders. Enteral feeding devices include feeding tubes placed through the nose or those placed directly into the abdomen of the patient. An enteral feeding pump is a medical device that provides controlled and timely nutrition to a patient during enteral feeding. Other feeding devices include giving sets that deliver feed from the ready-to-hang feeding container or bottle to a patient's feeding tube and pump.

The analysts forecast the global enteral feeding devices market to grow at a CAGR of 6.16% during the period 2016-2020.

New Report Released: - Global Enteral Feeding Devices Market 2016-2020

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the Global Enteral Feeding Devices Market: Cook Medical, Fresenius, Medtronic (Covidien) and Moog Medical Devices

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Alcor Scientific, Andersen Products, Angel Canada Enterprises, Applied Medical Technology, Asept Inmed, BARD Access Systems, Bard Medical, Boston Scientific, ConMed, Corpak Medical Systems, Degania Silicone, Guangdong Baihe Medical Technology, Halyard Health, Jiangsu Kangjin Medical Instruments, Mindray, Medela, Medline Industries, Nestle Healthcare Nutrition, Pacific Hospital Supply, Rontis Medical, Securmed, Shenzhen Bestman Instrument, Teleflex Medical, US Endoscopy, and Vygon.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “The adoption of low-profile feeding tubes has increased because these tubes can provide nutrients directly to the stomach and are associated with fewer complications. New technologies such as minimally invasive enteral feeding devices are likely to gain momentum during the forecast period.”

According to the report, premature babies are the major beneficiaries of enteral feeding devices. These babies have difficulty in swallowing, sucking, and breathing, because of undeveloped organ systems, and are not able to adapt to extrauterine environment and require enteral feeding devices to get nutrition.

Further, the report states that the complications related to the use of enteral devices include gastrointestinal-linked conditions such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and bloating. Poor tube placement could also lead to infections in the lungs and the abdominal cavity.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
