Mexico is among the top 15 world leaders in the agribusiness industry with vast cultivated land area. The growing agribusiness sector of Mexico is driven directly by a greater usage of modern day agricultural equipment. The country is experiencing challenges on the back of low agri-commodity prices, and increasing cost of diesel, leading to a drop in the country’s agricultural budget - a fund that is directly related to purchase of farm machinery and implements. However, the domestic woes are offset by a thriving export market, especially of products being exported to the United States. In Mexico, agricultural machinery market can be divided into two categories - purchasing, and renting of equipment. In such economic difficulties in the country, market proportion occupied by purchase of machinery is being hedged in by rental of these equipment.

The turnover of country’s agriculture machinery sector is around $X billion per year. While the global market looks positive, the demand for agricultural machinery in Mexico is expected to change at a CAGR of X% in 2015-2020 period. Demand for purchase/rent of agri machinery is directly related to farm productivity and profits. These are, in turn, linked with environmental stresses (erratic weather conditions), change in demand (increase/decrease of domestic consumption, exports, etc.), labour availability, rate of technology and extent of relevance with regard to change in farm productivity.

Tractors are the most important agri-implements in farming in Mexico. Starting with common tools of farming like plough and sickle, the agricultural machinery industry in Mexico, while less developed in comparison with US & Canada, has products to offer in every stage of a crop cycle. Here, market segmentation is done on the basis of product and phase type: tractors, plowing and cultivating machinery, planting and fertilizing, harvesting machinery etc. Major players in the Mexican agricultural machinery and equipment industry are Deere and Company AGCO Corp., CNH Industrial N.V, Iseki & Co. Ltd., Kuhn Group, Kverneland Group, Escorts Group etc.
