Inductor is an electric device consisting of one or more turns of wire and typically having two terminals. An inductor is usually connected into a circuit in order to raise the inductance to a desired value. Since inductance is a property that varies with frequency, inductors range from a single loop in a length of wire (used at ultrahigh frequencies), through spirals in the copper coating of an etched circuit board (used at very high frequencies), to large coils of insulated wire wound onto iron or ferrite cores. For radio use, inductors often have air cores to avoid the losses caused by magnetic hysteresis and by eddy currents that occur when solid cores are used. Solid cores, however, offer the advantage of raising the inductance that can be obtained from a coil of a given number of turns of wire. Ferrites are often used, since they are nonconductors and are immune to eddy currents.

The rise of smart grids and automotives, demand for compact and light weight devices and power-efficiency is driving the inductor market. Especially power Inductors are playing a key role in the Inductor market. Revolutionary developments in telecommunications as well as in the integration of chips raised the demand for inductors. Increasing sophistication in mobile devices is also one of the factors driving the inductor market.

The need of power transmission made us to use transformers in a large quantity. This increased the need of inductors.

Owing to benefits such as protection to the circuits and availability of the inductors in various sizes, various materials, and lower price as well as availability in many modes, inductors are being used across industry verticals. However, telecommunications, power transmission are key end use industries of the inductors market.

The global market for inductors is estimated to be $XX billion in 2015 and is forecast to grow at a CAGR of XX% to reach $XX billion by 2021. The Power Inductors segment is forecast to have the highest growth exhibit rapid growth of XX% CAGR during the forecast period 2016-2021. Power transmission, automotive and telecommunications are the major end-users of inductors. North America and Asia Pacific together occupy a share of more than XX% in 2015. APAC is the leading market for inductors with China being the most potential regional consumer.
