The report points out that some markets are showing signs of maturity as growth rates have declined, yet globally B2C E-Commerce still has plenty of room to grow, accounting for less than 10% of total retail sales. Online shopping has grown at double digit rates in recent years and is expected to maintain that rate of growth at least through 2020.

The Asia-Pacific region has taken the lead in online retail sales, and is forecast capture an increased share of global E-Commerce through the end of this decade. Emerging markets, with India as a prime example will have the highest growth rates while China, Germany, Japan, the UK and the USA are expected to have the highest sales figures this year, according to the report.

Trends in online shopping revealed in the report include the use of mobile devices for shopping, the popularity of alternative online payment methods, consumer demand for free or low cost and rapid shipment, and increasing cross-border purchases.
