About the Next-Generation Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) Market

Energy management systems (EMS) use computer-aided tools to monitor, control, and optimize electrical loads. These systems facilitate users to conserve energy by monitoring and reducing energy consumption of electrical and electronic devices. The EMS can easily monitor energy consumption of buildings, industries, and homes. They also help in power management by tracking the real-time energy consumption of electronic devices and comparing it with historical data. The systems aid in improving communication between the device and the consumer. As a result, end-users can have a holistic view of their energy performance, which is compiled through a wide array of sensing and control devices, data feeds, and analytics software. Thus, the emerging technology EMS can facilitate better decision-making in terms of energy conservation.

The analysts forecast the global BEMS market to grow at a CAGR of 11.05% during the period 2016-2020.

New Report Released: - Global Next-Generation Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) Market 2016-2020

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global next-generation building energy management systems (BEMS) market: Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, and Siemens.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: ABB, Azbil, CBRE Group, CISCO Systems, Cylon Control, Daikin Industries, Eaton Corporation, Echelon, Ecova, EnerNOC, General Electric Industrial Solutions, IBM, Lennox International, Trane, United Technologies, GridPoint, Elster, Envizi, eSight Energy, Verisae, DEXMA, Lucid, Ameresco, Wipro EcoEnergy, Verdant, C3 Energy, One Sight Solutions, Hermetic Rush Services, Energy System Technologies, and EnergyIQ.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “A trend which will definitely boost market growth is the growing investment from the big players. With the rise in demand for energy efficiency, many blue chip companies are entering the market with their products. For instance, Schneider Electric introduced EcoStruxure, an integrated control platform for healthcare in 2014. The EcoStruxure system integrates several core hospital systems such as mechanical, electrical, security, and information and communication systems into one system. The company also introduced SmartStruxure Lite that focuses on small and medium healthcare facilities less than 100,000 sq. ft.”

According to the report, a key growth driver is the need for energy conservation. Buildings consume a high amount of electricity, resulting in high energy spending. This mainly depends on building occupancy, i.e., the number of people using electricity for various applications and diverse business operations. For instance, the hospitals in the US consumed 365 trillion BTU of electricity in 2012. About 80% of a building’s energy requirements is controlled by BEMS. Therefore, optimizing and maintaining the system in-sync with the building can result in significant energy savings that can be measured, monitored, and sustained.

Further, the report states that one challenge that could impact market growth is the high initial costs to set up energy management solutions. Though significant energy savings can be achieved with retrofitting of existing systems, to realize the complete benefit, energy management solutions should be implemented from the planning and designing stages of a facility. Based on the requirement, energy saving goals can be scaled as entry level, medium, or advanced investment.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
