The South America quinoa seeds market expected to reach USD XX Million by 2020 from USD XX Million in 2015, registering a growth of CAGR 28.91% during the forecasted period from 2015 to 2020. Quinoa is a gluten free, protein rich seeds, originated in South America. These seeds are getting famous worldwide as superfood due to its fatty acid, vitamin, iron, magnesium, vitamin E, potassium and fiber content. In 2014 the prices of this gluten free pseudo grain has touched USD 3,500 per metric ton to over USD 8,000 per metric ton, making it the most expensive grain on the market.

Agro-industrial companies are producing large quantities of quinoa on irrigated lands, producing 3-4,000 kilos per hectare, leading to over-production of grain. In 2015, over-production of Quinoa has led to drop in trade price of the seeds, however, consumers have not been benefited much from the lower trade prices. It is predicted that dropping of quinoa prices in near future, will drive the market growth by making seeds more affordable to the customer and processing industry. The pesticides residues beyond FDA limit in quinoa seeds is raising concerns in both importing and exporting nations and is negatively affecting the growth of the market. In 2014, the FDA tested and rejected multiple container loads of Peruvian quinoa due to high levels of pesticides residue.

This market can be broadly segmented by seed type into organic quinoa seeds market and inorganic quinoa seeds market. Currently, the market is dominated by the inorganic quinoa seeds, however, in the coming years, the demand of organic quinoa seeds is going to increase globally.
