- Service station operators increase wash prices to make up for lost revenues. The value of the European wash market grew by 5.5% in 2015 to be worth €7.3bn. The primary cause of the growing market value in Europe was an increase in wash prices, particularly by service station operators as they attempted to make up for lost fuel revenues as fuel prices declined across Europe in 2015.

- Operators will have to break wash habits to encourage luxury wash growth toward 2020. Despite an increase in disposable income levels in a number of European markets in 2015, allowing motorists to use more expensive wash types, many have chosen to continue using low-cost washes as it has become habitual to them.

- Increasing disposable income and parc levels caused wash occasion growth. Total European wash occasions grew by 39.4 million between 2014 and 2015 as a result of increasing vehicle parc and average vehicle wash occasions in certain markets. The vehicle parc in the majority of European markets rose in 2015, which created additional wash occasions, while in some markets motorists increased their average number of washes as disposable income also grew over this period
