About Racing Tires

Racing tires are high-performance tires that are customized for use in racing vehicles. The production of racing tires is capital-intensive and requires a significant degree of hi-tech equipment coupled with highly trained and skilled manpower dedicated to the purpose of engineering and manufacturing. Racing tires are designed to deliver superior performance demanded by racing conditions, and therefore undergo various quality, durability, and speed tests. Natural and synthetic rubber are the primary raw materials in the manufacture of tires. But textile reinforcements like rayon, aramid, nylon, and polyester are also used to manufacture racing tires.

The analysts forecast the global automotive racing slicks market to grow at a CAGR of 18.43% during the period 2016-2020.

New Report Released: – Global Automotive Racing Slicks Market 2016-2020

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global automotive racing slicks market: Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental, Hankook, Michelin, Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, Kumho Tire, Toyo Tire & Rubber, and Yokohama Rubber.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “Recycling of used tires has been a major trend in the tire market. Racing tires are also not far behind. NASCAR inked an agreement with Liberty Tire Recycling to become the official tire recycler for the NASCAR Green project. Each year, approximately 120,000 Goodyear tires used in the top-three national series of NASCAR are recycled. Other racing series such as F1 are also following suit, making this a major emerging trend in the market. Increasing the volumes of recycled rubber can reduce environmental pollution; such recycling transforms tires into sustainable products such as rubberized asphalt. This is used extensively to pave roads. Rubberized asphalt material is said to be long-lasting, safer, less costly, and eco-friendly compared to traditional paving materials.”

According to the report, China has its own domestic touring car racing series, China Touring Car Championship (inaugurated in 2003). The enthusiasm toward racing in this region is pushing many racing events organization. The rising racing events is the primary driver for adoption of racing slicks. The Chinese company, NextEV, developed the electric Formula E racer in 2016. The popularity of racing is pushing development of innovative vehicles to participate in competitive racing events. In terms of racing circuits too, China is catching up fast. For instance, Goldenport (operating company of Beijing race circuit), is expanding its reach by building tracks in the cities of Fuzhou, Xuzhou, Wuhan and Jinan, and expected to soon upgrade the Beijing race circuit to a level that would allow races involving more powerful cars, such as Formula 3 race cars.

Further, the report states that one of the major challenges will be narrow end-user segments. Though the market is booming, it is still a niche market focused on a limited number of end-users. Racing slicks are designed to be used only for racing purposes and are suitably driven only on racing tracks or courses. The use of these tires on non-racing vehicles may lead to rapid wear and tear and create safety concerns. Tires used on regular cars usually need to work in all weather conditions. For instance, the tread is required to push rain water out of the way, so normal tires have more tread, which ensures a better grip on wet roads. Racing slicks, are used by racing cars mostly on a dry track. Therefore, the use of these tires is limited to racing vehicles and this fact restricts the growth of this market.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
