An insulator is a device which is used to create an insulation between two conductors. Depending on the type of application for which power transmission is taking place, the insulators can also be used as a means of mechanical support for power carrying cables. In the initial years, the insulators which were used for high voltage applications would often have to be replaced because of wear and tear of the insulators. Today, there are multiple composites of these insulators which can be used thereby extending their life period.

The demand for energy is a never ending one. However, over the last ten years, this demand has been increasing at an exponential rate. Numerous countries around the world are trying to ensure that each and every region of the country receives power which leads to the demand for high voltage insulators at these locations. Proper transmission and distribution of power across a country is absolutely essential to ensure that there is no power loss and at the same time the transmission can take place across vast distances.

A number of developing countries are key for the growth rate of the high voltage insulators market as this adds to the overall market growth and these countries are expected to post the highest growth rate during the forecast period. The APAC region is expected to drive the market considering the untapped potential which is present in the area. Further to this, a number of governments in the region have been harnessing hydro power and as such, the requirement for power transmission is expected to be more during the forecast period.
