The display has come a long way from its initial use as well as the technology which was employed. The earliest development was for that of televisions where a cathode ray tube was used wherein electrons would be bombarded onto a display which would then light-up at the points where the electrons had impacted thereby creating an image. The life-time of these televisions were however a few years at most and furthermore, with wear and tear the displays would lose their effectiveness. Following this a number of technologies have been developed thereby increasing the life span of these devices.

Technologies such as LCD and LEDs have enabled for thinner a lighter displays to be developed. This has allowed the displays to be used across for different applications some of which include advertising, fashion, display boards and so on. Smartphones and tablets are heavily reliant on the type of displays which are employed today since almost every device which is manufactured today is available with touch technology thereby requiring the screens to be sensitive and also tough. Almost every smartphone manufacturer is looking at coming up with a better form factor for their respective devices and in order to do so, they should be in a position to create different ergonomics. Depending on the effectiveness of the display, the power required to power the same will differ and all manufacturers are looking at low-power consumption components whilst still ensuring the best possible performance for the device.

A ferro-liquid display uses certain ferro-electric liquids which can respond HD videos faster than LCD display screens. Because of this higher response rate, ferro-liquid displays are ideal for quick-response and essential applications such as in aerospace & defence where information is constantly being transmitted to the individual based on which action needs to be taken upon. Another key advantage for a ferro-liquid display is the fact that the power consumption for the same is extremely low and furthermore, in cases of a still-image, there is no power consumption. The fast response rate and low power consumption will ensure that the display will have a growth rate in the comig years although the contribution to the overall display market will be low in the initial 3 to 4 years considering that there is already a large base of LED displays present in the market.
