About Torque Sensor

A torque sensor or a torque transducer is a device that is used for measuring the amount of torque acting upon a rotating system or mechanism in machinery such as engine, transmission, gearbox, crankshaft, or rotor. Torque sensors can measure all the components of torque acting along the six axes of a rotating system. Torque sensors measure both static and dynamic torque. However, the measurement of dynamic torque involves the transfer of either electric or magnetic effect from a shaft measured in a static system.

The analysts forecast the global torque sensor market to grow at a CAGR of 9.86% during the period 2016-2020.

New Report Released: - Global Torque Sensor Market 2016-2020

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global torque sensor market: ABB, ATI Industrial Automation, Crane Electronics, FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology, HBM Test and Measurement, Honeywell Sensing and Control, Interface Advanced Force Measurement, Kistler Holding, and Kistler Holding.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One of the key trends for market growth will be the rise in demand for wireless connectivity in torque sensors. The widespread development of the global economy has pushed industries across the globe to focus on enhancing their operational and energy efficiency to cut costs and generate optimum amount of revenue. In order to achieve operational and energy efficiency, all the processes involved in the industry need to be closely monitored for inconsistencies and faults or mishaps, and the time involved in addressing the issue needs to be minimized.”

According to the report, increased demand for torque sensors in oil and gas industry will be a key driver for market growth. The growth in the economy worldwide has led to an increased demand for energy and power. This, in turn, has resulted in a rise in demand for oil and gas globally. The oil and gas consumption increased to 93.8 million barrels per day in 2015 from 90.5 million barrels per day in 2012. We expect the same to increase to 100 million barrels per day by 2020.

Further, the report states that the initial capital investment required for the manufacture of torque sensors is high, which poses a major threat to the operation of manufacturers. The development and growth of worldwide economies have led to volatile raw material prices across industries. As a result, vendors face a major challenge of maintaining competitive selling prices of their products. Technological innovations across industries have generated high demand for advanced torque sensors that can measure torque with utmost precision in harsh environmental conditions such as that in the oil and gas industry.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
