The Economy of Kazakhstan is expected to grow at X.XX% by 2020.

Kazakhstan is the worlds largest land locked state and the biggest economy in the central Asia region. The economy of Kazakhstan has suffered a major collapse and had contacted by almost a third in the nineties owing to large scale contraction in the demand for its heavy industry products. But since then the economy has rebounded sharply and is currently the strongest economy in the region and also acts as a driver for the entire region. One major inherent advantage with Kazakhstan was the developed state of its heavy industries which acts as a core and backbone of any economy.

Kazakhstan has one of the largest reserves of the very important Uranium and is the largest producer. The country is also a leading producer of many other mineral commodities like rhenium, bauxite, gallium, cadmium , zinc , ferrochrome etc. But the energy sector is the biggest contributor to the economy of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan has the 11th largest oil reserves in the world and has attracted investments from major multinationals from all over the world like Chevron, Texaco, ExxonMobil etc. Natural Gas reserves form a vital part of the country’s portfolio and holds the key to he region’s future energy security.

Also Agriculture forms a very important part of the Kazakh Economy and grain , potatoes, livestock, dry fruits constitute major part of the sector. Almost 3/4th of the Kazakh land is arable which makes this sector hold a lot of potential.

Although Corruption levels are one of the highest in the world and act as a major deterrent to foreign investment, Kazakhstan still has a ranking of 50 in Ease of Doing Business Index. The government offers 10 year exemption from corporate tax, 8 year exemption from property tax and a 10 year exemption from most other taxes in case of foreign investment. Also the rate of closure of small businesses is the lowest in the world, indicating a moderate level of competition which means a great opportunity for investors and a high rate of return on business at low levels of risk.

Due to the slump in oil prices, the Kazakh economy currently is struggling which means there is a great opportunity for investment in certain sectors of Kazakhstan.

With a population of 17.56 million, Kazakhstan is the 43rd largest economy of the world and largest in the central Asia region. Even though Kazakhstan has faced economic difficulties after the dissolution of Soviet Union; the country has maintained a per capita income of USD 24,143 which puts Kazakhstan into the category of an Upper Middle Income Nation.
