New Report Released: – Global Packaging Inks and Coatings Market 2016-2020

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global packaging inks and coatings market: AkzoNobel, Flint, PPG Industries, Sun Chemical, and Valspar

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: ALTANA, Arkema, Axalta Coatings Systems, Brancher, ColorMatrix, CROMOS TINTAS GRAFICAS, Dainichiseika Color & Chemicals Manufacturing, DIC, Encres Dubuit, Environmental Inks and Coatings, Kansai Paint, Nippon Paint, Sakata, Siegwerk Druckfarben, T&K TOKA, Toyo Ink, Wikoff Color, and Zeller+Gmelin

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “Inks and coatings that are designed to cure when subjected to UV light are environmentally safe as they are free of toxic solvents and do not emit VOC. Further, as these paints are cured using UV light rather than conventional sources such as heat and dry air, they reduce the energy consumed for curing by roughly 50% along with a shorter turnover time for printing.”

According to the report, solvent-borne inks consist of hydrophobic resins. This results in an inadequate flow and formation of lumps while recycling the substrate in an aqueous condition, affecting the quality of the recycled product. However, waterborne inks are manufactured from water-dispersible polymers; therefore, they enhance the flow of the inks and significantly benefit the printers by reducing the overall cost.

Further, the report states that in emerging markets, the demand for solvent-borne inks is high because of the lack of stringent regulations. However, with increasing awareness regarding the use of VOC inks, the printing market in these regions is expected to shift toward eco-friendly alternatives. Consequently, the market vendors are increasingly investing in R&D for the introduction of regulation-compliant waterborne printing inks.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
