Diethylenetriamine or DETA is a member of the ethyleneamine family and consist of both primary and secondary amine functional group. DETA is a hygroscopic liquid with characteristic ammonia-like odor. It is the end product of chemical reaction of ethylene dichloride and ammonia and is stored with separation from strong oxidants, acids, organic nitrcompounds and others.

DETA is alsa toxic chemical and can be absorbed intbody through skin, ingestion or by inhalation of vapors. The symptoms are irritating eye, skin, mucous or upper respiratory tract and dyspnea.

DETA have wide applications in industries like adhesive, paper, automotive, personal care water treatment and others. It acts as anti-corrosion or anti-scaling agents, ion-exchange or surface active agents and it is alsused as a functional fluid (tcreate a close system).
