DINP is a high molecular weight phthalate plasticizer. DINP is used in various PVC products such as vinyl floors, wall coverings, coated fabrics, wire insulation, garden hoses, stationery materials, automobile under coatings, gloves, tubing, artificial leather, footwear, cable insulation and soft toys. DINP is also used in Non-PVC products like rubbers, inks, pigments, lacquers, adhesives, sealants and paints.
Wire, cable and electrical industries use about 25% of total plasticized PVC. Soft PVC treated with DINP is used in automotive industry mainly for underbody coatings, sealants and making parts of vehicles. As flooring for many shoe soles due to its flexibility, durability and anti-slip properties. One of the non-PVC applications of DINP are sealing, which are frequently useful to windows and doors for better insulation.
