Sunitinib, developed and marketed as Sutent by Pfizer Inc and previously known as SU11248, is a small-molecule medicine which has to be administered orally and has been proven to be effective in blocking multiple receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). Sunitinib was the first cancer drug simultaneously approved for two different indications, namely renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and imatinib-resistant gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Global advancement of technology and increasing prevalence of pancreatic cancer are the prime growth drivers of the global sunitinib malate market.
