Global Motorcycle eCall Market 2017-2021

Key players in the global motorcycle ecall market: BMW Motorrad, Bosch, and Continental.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Telit Communications.

Commenting on the report, an analyst said: “One trend in market is development of intelligent eCall systems. The eCall system reduces the emergency service response time by about 50%. Therefore, it paved its adoption in the automotive segment; it will soon be commercialized in the motorcycle segment. However, this does not stop the further developments in the system by suppliers. BMW Motorrad is the prominent player in the market. The company's focus on increasing the efficiency of the system led to the development of intelligent emergency calling system. For instance, the system does not depend on the user's smartphone for communicating an emergency signal to the call center. Instead, the embedded mobile connection module and location detection trigger the rescue chain during an emergency.”

According to the report, one driver in market is growing electrification of mechanical components, increasing use of electronic components in motorcycles. The global demand for high-powered motorcycles is on the rise. The development of one component brings forth other components that increase the efficiency and riding experience of the rider. This demand is enabling the rapid electrification of mechanical components, and driving the adoption of infotainment systems and connectivity in motorcycles. This will increase the adoption of eCall systems in the motorcycle segment.

Further, the report states that one challenge in market is low return on investment for standalone eCall system for OEMs. The countries of the EU have taken many initiatives for laying the foundation for the installation of eCall systems. One such initiative is the waiver of telephone roaming charges across member states in 2014 to establish a favorable ecosystem for interoperability of eCall systems across Europe. Despite such initiatives, OEMs are still skeptical about the installation of eCall systems owing to the lower return on investment. This can be attributed to the fact that the revenue generated from eCall system depends on rare events such as accidents.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
