For example, adjuvant therapy dose ranges from 40-60 gray for breast cancer. Professionals who are involved or exposed to radiation while treating cancer patients are also required to frequently check the dose of radiation they have received. Personal dosimeters and survey meters are used to ensure that the radiation devices do not leak any radioactive sources into the surroundings. The increasing incidences of cancer will have an impact on the growth of radiation detection and monitoring market. In 2012, about 14 million new cancer cases were reported globally, and it is expected that new cases of cancer will increase by 70% over the next two decades.”

Nuclear weapons can cause mass destruction if the radioactive material is released in densely populated areas. Defense and Homeland Security require radiation detection and monitoring equipment to eliminate the potential risks of nuclear attacks. For instance, in 2016, LANDAUER, a key vendor in the market, received a military order from the US National Guard for approximately 2,800 readers and 280,000 RadWatch systems, a personal in-field radiation monitoring system from the company.
