New Report Released: – Lumpectomy Market in Europe 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the lumpectomy market in Europe: Dune Medical Devices and iCAD.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: ClearCut Medical, Hologic, Medtronic, Sanarus, Vector Surgical, and ZEISS.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in market is emergence of integrated breast cancer treatment centers. Integrated breast cancer centers have dedicated cancer specialists who ensure that women suffering from breast cancer would receive the necessary screening, medical and paramedical advice, and conduct surgeries such as lumpectomy and mastectomy when required. In Europe, the accreditation system differs in each country. To unify it, the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists (EUSOMA) developed an accreditation system in 2002. According to the report, one driver in market is increasing adoption of mammography for early breast cancer detection. Screening of breast cancer increases the survival rate. Owing to increasing awareness about breast cancer, many people opt for mammography screening procedure. It identifies the formation of tumor cells and tissues in the breast, and along with a biopsy, help the physician to determine whether a lumpectomy or mastectomy is required for the removal of the cancerous tissue. By organizing mammography screening programs, the governments (such as in Belgium and Finland) are increasing the number of mammography procedures, which in turn is increasing the survival rate.

Further, the report states that one challenge in market is poor cosmetic results. For the removal of a large malignant tumor in the breast, the surgeon needs to remove a large amount of breast tissue during lumpectomy procedure. As lumpectomy is a breast-conserving therapy; hence, during the procedure, the surgeon removes all the cancerous tissues which lead to asymmetry structure of the breast. The result can get worse after breast-cancer survivor undergoes APBI or whole breast radiation. To correct the shape of it, women may need to undergo mastopexy (plastic surgery mammoplasty procedure), or correction by arranging local tissue which can be implanted. These procedures can lead to a high-cost burden on women, which hinders the lumpectomy adoption.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
