Pressure transmitters are devices that are used to measure the pressure and flow rate of fluids and gases. These are mainly used in industrial machinery to monitor the pressure levels. These devices help in preventing any accidents that might occur due to high pressure. These devices alert/warn the users about the increase in pressure. Pressure transmitters are devices used to measure the pressure of gases and liquids. They are used in industrial machinery to calculate the pressure and issue a warning if there is a sudden increase in pressure, which could lead to a catastrophe. There are three types of pressure transmitters, out of which differential pressure transmitters dominate in terms of revenue. Multivariable transmitters experience a higher growth due to the functional capabilities provided by these models. Multivariable transmitters help end-users avoid the use of an additional computer to calculate the flowrates.

The analysts forecast the global pressure transmitters market to grow at a CAGR of 5.53% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: - Global Pressure Transmitters Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global pressure transmitters market: ABB, Emerson, Siemens, and Yokogawa.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Anderson-Negele, Ashdown Control, Azbil (Yamatake), Endress+Hauser, Fuji Electric, Honeywell, Keller, Schneider Electric, Toshniwal Industries, and WIKA.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in market is growing use of wireless pressure transmitters. Wireless pressure transmitters are popular as they are easier to install; they also eliminate the need for hard wiring. Unlike the conventional pressure transmitters, it is easier to add measurement points in wireless transmitters, and these transmitters can be installed in locations that are difficult to reach and see. Some of these transmitters can be operated by remote process control and monitoring systems. They can be connected with the help of Bluetooth connectivity communication protocols. Most of these devices have a connectivity range of 60-70 ft. and have a battery life of more than two years, depending on the model and use. There are some models, which have a wireless connectivity range of around 1,000 meters.

Apart from Bluetooth connectivity, there are other wireless communication systems like ISA100.11a, which can be used to transmit the data. These transmitters are suitable for the oil and gas, mining, power generation, and other industries. They can be used to transmit the readings and are useful in setting the parameters such as the data update rate and other functions remotely. As of now, wireless transmitters are not widely used, but it is a trend that is picking up. Companies like Emerson, Yokogawa, and others are the prominent vendors for wireless pressure transmitters.”

According to the report, one driver in market is growing importance of process automation. The growth in the power generation and chemicals and petrochemicals industries and the increasing automation within these industries to upgrade existing facilities for the improvement of the overall functioning of the company is an ongoing trend. With automation, the consistency and quality of work can be maintained. Apart from the high initial cost of the automation process, the cost of maintenance is economical when compared with employing a human workforce. This allows the organization to reduce the time taken to complete a task, which, in turn, increases productivity.

Automation enables the collection of accurate data, which can then be used for strategy planning. Developed economies are investing more in wind power generation projects and their automation. This is expected to have a positive impact on the pressure transmitter market. As of now, the total power generated using wind power is much lower when compared with other conventional methods. With growing investments, this is expected to increase, which will create demand for pressure transmitters.

Further, the report states that one challenge in market is decline in oil and gas and mining industries. The oil and gas industry is the most important end-user of pressure transmitters. This industry is facing a decline as crude oil prices declined to about $50 per barrel as of September 2016. Companies within the oil and gas sector are reducing their expenditure and investments. The entire upstream sector in the oil and gas industry is declining, and this is one of the areas where pressure transmitters are widely used. Around $200 billion worth of projects have been canceled as of 2016. The environmental concerns are another reason for this industry's decline. All the G7 nations have agreed to reduce the use of fossil fuels to control pollution and global warming. One of the main users of petroleum products is automobiles. Therefore, many countries are compelling automobile manufacturers to reduce pollution levels and are encouraging them to produce electric vehicles (EVs). There are automobile manufacturers such as Tesla Motors that design only electric vehicles. Countries like Norway are promoting the use of EVs by providing incentives, such as the exemption from vehicle tax up to a certain percentage. It is one of the places where the use of passenger EVs is very high. Most of the developed countries have already started promoting the use of EVs, which will adversely affect the oil and gas industry. Industrialized nations and developing nations have already started investing in alternate energy projects like wind power, nuclear, and others. As of now, the oil and gas sector is the leading revenue-generating segment for pressure transmitters due to the demand from existing projects, and retrofits and replacements.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
