Diamond blend (DB) is a semiproduct for DND represented by the complex composition that consists of DND (for about 30–60%), non-diamond carbon of different type (40–60%) and metal-containing impurities (approximately 5–15%). This semiproduct is produced immediately after blowing up of charges with the explosive agents.
Detonation nanodiamonds (DND) are a perspective nanocarbon material, which may be widely used in the different areas of modern technologies. Alongside with the graphene, carbon nanotubes and fullerenes, it is represented by the allotropic form of carbon.
DND is a material consisting of the particles each of which has the inner structure of diamond crystallite coated with the external stabilizing layer from non-diamond carbon of different nature as well as carbon-oxygen functional groups on top.
