New Report Released: – Global Swine Health Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global swine health market: Boehringer Ingelheim, Ceva Santé Animale, Elanco, Merck Animal Health, and Zoetis

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Animal Medics, Biogénesis Bagó, Biovet, Dechra, ECO Animal Health, Huvepharma, Indian Immunologicals, Lillidale Animal Health, Mobedco-Vet, Neogen, Norbrook, Orion, Phibro Animal Health, Vétoquinol, Virbac, and Vitafor

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “Use of organic trace minerals in water-soluble organic feed additives is a major trend observed in the swine feed market. Water-soluble organic feed comprises of multi-vitamins along with organic trace minerals, plays an important role in the animal's growth and productivity. These products are easy to administer, easy to digest, and are more effective than dry feed additive products. Tanke BioSciences, a Chinese manufacturer of organic trace minerals, has introduced a range of water-soluble organic feed additives containing multi-vitamins and organic trace minerals.”

According to the report, China is the world’s largest consumer of pork. China is also the largest producer of pork, which accounts nearly 50% of the world’s pork production. In 2007-2014, the country witnessed an increase in the pork imports, which has increased with an annual growth rate of 150%. Pork contributes nearly 60% of the China’s total meat consumption. The main reasons behind its growth are the population growth, rapid economic development, expanding the middle class, and continuous urbanization.

Further, the report states that the pathogens such as bacterium, virus, or parasite can cause disease in animals. Some of the pathogens can infect the pork, which, in turn, will get transmitted to a human body that consumed the infected pork meat. Pork is a major cause of foodborne salmonellosis throughout the world. For instance, in Canada, the pork industry is facing major concerns from the diseases that include Salmonella, which is a bacterium that can present in the gut of the pigs that are healthy. Such instances put human health also at risk by the consumption of the pork. Few more examples of such bacteria are Campylobacter, which is a bacterium that lives in guts of pigs; Trichinella, which is a tiny parasite that lives in the muscle of pigs. These diseases are very common among the pigs when they were fed kitchen scraps because the pigs became infected by eating contaminated meat (i.e. scavenging on wild animal carcasses and garbage). Toxoplasma is a parasite in pigs, which can contaminate either from exposure to cat feces or by eating rats and mice that have been exposed to cat feces. In most cases, the symptoms of these foodborne illnesses transmitted through the consumption of infected pork meat include stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, chills, and aches in human beings. Hence, the prevention of transmission of these infectious microorganisms from swine to human beings remains a big challenge in front of the swine health market to preserve its commercial benefits.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
