Fiberglass is a type of reinforced plastic, in which the material used for reinforcement is glass fiber. Glass fibers can be of two types based on their geometry - continuous fibers that are used in yarns and textiles and discontinuous (short) fibers that are used as batts, blankets, and boards for insulation and filtration.

Fiberglass materials are used in building products, including in mesh products, these are used for façade reinforcement and to prevent cracks on walls. Mesh fabric is a major component of insulation systems. In walls and ceiling, fiberglass is used for decorations and renovations. It is also used for protection from fire. In drywall tapes, these materials are used to increase the strength of joints and as repair solutions.

The analysts forecast the global fiberglass building products market to grow at a CAGR of 5.65% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: - Global Fiberglass Building Products Market 2017-2021.

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global fiberglass building products market: Braj Binani Group, China Beihai Fiberglass, Johns Manville, Jushi Group, Phifer, PPG Industries, and Saint-Gobain.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Chongqing Polycomp International, Enduro, KCC Fiberglass, Knauf Insulation, and Taishan Fiberglass.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in market is focus on energy efficient buildings. Commercial buildings in APAC are some of the largest energy consumers in the world, and the region’s construction market is currently expanding at rates unmatched when compared with the rates in the Middle East and Africa. The increase in energy prices and stringent carbon emission regulations have led to the imposition of restrictions on energy use.”

According to the report, one driver in market is urbanization and increased investments in infrastructure development. Population growth, increasing disposable income of individuals, and urbanization are the major factors driving the global construction market. The global urban population is expected to increase to more than 65% by 2050 from approximately 55% in 2015. This increases the need for public and private infrastructure and residential constructions. In the construction industry, fiberglass products are used in roofs, windows, doors, and others, and as an alternative for conventional materials such as metals, wood, and concrete. The infrastructure segment is among the major end-user industries of fiberglass products owing to the properties, such as design flexibility, corrosion resistance, durability, easy installation, weatherproofing, and weight reduction.

Further, the report states that one challenges in market is infrastructural gap and increase in construction cost. The construction market slowed considerably after the global recession of 2008. As of 2015, the construction industry was in the recovery phase. In Europe, there was an increase in construction activities by approximately 2.5% in February 2016 when compared with February 2015. The highest increase in construction activities in Europe was recorded by Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden. However, after 8 years since 2008, there exists a gap between the development and maintenance of these buildings, which needs to be filled by initiatives from the government and major construction companies that are focused on building new structures. This gap mainly refers to the difficulty of the state and private sectors in sustaining the level of infrastructural networks in the Western world.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
