Admiral Group is one of the leading car insurance providers in the UK and has businesses in Spain, Italy, France and the USA and offices in Canada and India. Admiral offers motor and household insurance in the UK and the group includes Confused.com, a leading price comparison website. Outside the UK, Admiral owns four insurance and three price comparison businesses. The group’s insurance brands include Admiral, Elephant, Diamond and Bell. Admiral has over 5 million customers and employs almost 9,000 staff.

The group announced profit before tax of £284 million for the year to December 31, 2016. This was 25% down YoY as a result of the change by the UK Government to the UK discount rate (commonly referred to as the ‘Ogden discount rate’), which is used to value personal injury claims. If the rate had remained unchanged, the Group’s pre-tax profit would have been £390 million. In February 2017, Admiral Group was positioned 2nd in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list. Previously in May 2016, Admiral was named the best corporate workplace by the British Council for Offices. Headquartered in Cardiff, Wales, Admiral group was started in 1993. It is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
