The strategic location of Poland as a bridge between East and West, North and South naturally translates into a highly developed transportation services sector. Substantial public investments in infrastructure, as well as significant private foreign investments in the economy, have created a business environment with considerable opportunities for transportation services in the past years. Road and rail services are the largest segments in Poland, and are also receiving most attention from the government in terms of infrastructure improvements and enhancements. The share of road transport in total freight transportation revenue amounts to 88%, while in total passenger transportation revenue its market share stands at 40.1%. The passenger transportation market is more fragmented than that of freight transport, with rail generating 30.5% and air transport 28% of total passenger transportation revenue.
