Indonesia's construction and real estate markets are among the biggest in Asia and enjoy high growth potential for the foreseeable future. Growth drivers include the country's vast and urbanising population in need of housing, as well as a broad swathe of government-sponsored projects to upgrade the country's infrastructure. As of 2016, the construction industry accounts for more than 10% of Indonesia's GDP and boasts more than 7.72mn employees.

Construction is dominated by large and well-connected conglomerates, which hurts smaller companies’ ability to grow. Skilled employees are hard to come by and hiring foreigners is restricted. All real estate segments are expected to expand to smaller cities to escape the saturation on the island of Java.
