About Curling Equipment

Curling is an ice sport that is played on an ice sheet and requires players to slide the curling stones over the ice sheet. The target area of the sport is segmented into four corners of the sheet. Two teams, each with four players, participate in the sport. It is also popular as a recreational activity for all age groups as it does not require players to have a strong physique. Considered to be one of the most fascinating sports, curling is popularly known as chess on ice, hybrid of bowling, and shuffleboard.

The analysts forecast the global curling equipment market to grow at a CAGR of 2.01% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: – Global Curling Equipment Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global curling equipment market: Andrew Kay & Co (Curling Stones), Asham Curling Supplies, BalancePlus Sliders, Goldline Curling, and Olson Curling.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Acacia Sports, Canada Curling Stone, Hardline Curling, Performance Brush - Curling André Ferland, and Tournament Sports.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is technological advances in curling equipment. Since the inception of curling and its entry in Olympic Games in 1998, the sport has undergone an evolution in many ways. The market players are designing technologically advanced products to increase their consumer base by attracting more customers. Modern curling brooms are made of carbon fiber shafts, which allow easy sweeping paths for stones.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is promotional activities by concerned authorities to promote curling globally. The World Curling Federation (WCF) has collaborated with Rock Solid Productions to promote curling and help the sport grow and be accessible around the globe. Rock Solid Productions is specialized in manufacturing iceless curling products that can be used to promote the sport in places where ice access is limited. This partnership benefits the Member Associations (MA) by significantly offering them products of Rock Solid Productions and FloorCurl at reduced prices.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is curling losing its priority as a sport. Practicing curling requires regular visits to clubs and playing arenas that also run other sports. Figure skating, public skating, and hockey are given more priority than curling though the price remains the same for all games. This is because curlers often demand special markings in the ice and need colder, smoother, and flatter ice than other games played on ice. The clubs sometimes find it difficult than what they had bargained for, which leads to falling out between the curling club and the host arena.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
