About Automotive Interior Materials

Automotive interior materials improve the comfort and ambiance of a vehicle's interiors. They offer high noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) to the vehicle. They are also very light and soft, yet strong enough to provide protection in roads accidents. Automotive interior materials are used to cover the interior modules of vehicles. The materials are categorized into three types, namely leather, polymers, and textile or fabric. Leather is primarily used in premium and luxury segments. Polymers and textile/fabric are used in mid-size and economical vehicle segments.

The analysts forecast the global automotive interior materials market to grow at a CAGR of 2.73% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: – Global Automotive Interior Materials Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global automotive interior materials market: 3M, BASF, Dow Chemical, and DuPont.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Assan Hanil, Borealis, Borgers, BSW, Celanese, Covestro, Hutchinson, and Mitsui Chemicals.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is innovations in lightweight materials. The consumer demand for automobiles with improved fuel efficiency has considerably increased over the years primarily due to the rise in fuel prices. Automobile manufacturers are exploring solutions that can reduce the weight of automobiles to enhance fuel efficiency.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is growing priority for comfort and safety in automobiles. The automobiles sector is constantly evolving with the introduction of new products in the market. Among the prominent buying criteria, vehicle comfort is ranked among the top three for automobiles. Cost, style, features, and engine capacity are the other key factors that influence the purchasing decision of consumers. Customer satisfaction is inherently linked to comfort and safety. Materials play a critical role in minimizing NVH, which would enhance the driving comfort.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is fluctuation in raw material prices. The fluctuation in the price of raw materials is another major challenge faced by vendors in the global automotive interior materials market. The manufacturing of PU foams and polyethylene foams requires raw materials, such as benzene, toluene, and other chemicals, from the oil and gas industry. Elastomers and other polymer plastics, such as PP, are used in vehicles as they are crude-oil based materials. The oil and gas industry is one of the principal suppliers of raw materials for the global polymer market and is affected by the price fluctuations of crude oil.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
