About Flight Simulator

A flight simulator artificially recreates the environment and other aspects of flying for pilot training purposes on civil and military aircraft and covers simulation in the environment, aircraft, and cueing. It is not only used to acquire flying knowledge and experience but also extensively used to learn how to react to emergency situations. Military flight simulators educate the military personnel about the critical situations that they may be susceptible to during missions. They are used for exposing the military and commercial pilots to real-time situations, such as loss of electronics, hydraulic failures, bad weather, and incidents like tire blowouts on landing.

Apart from the emergency training, a trainee can quickly learn to use the military combat systems, without the fear of making a mistake. Almost everything from engine failure to air combat mid-air refueling can be learned with the assistance of highly advanced and innovative simulators.

The analysts forecast the global flight simulator market to grow at a CAGR of 4.61% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: - Global Flight Simulator Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global flight simulator market: CAE, FlightSafety International, L3 Link Simulation and Training, Rockwell Collins, and Thales.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Airbus, Boeing, ECA Group, FRASCA International, and Lockheed Martin

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “The latest trend gaining momentum in the market is emergence of cost-effective flight simulators. With the initial and operational cost of simulator-based training matching more or less with that of real-time training, simulator manufacturers are forced to adopt newer technologies that will eventually lead to a decrease in the price of simulators. One such cost-effective technology in focus is the use of helmet-mount or head-worn virtual reality (VR) systems.”

According to the report, one of the major drivers for this market is Increasing number of aircraft deliveries in both military and commercial domain. The growth in air traffic and the concurrent rise in the number of aircraft deliveries has led to an increased demand for pilots and the demand for flight simulators and training devices. It is expected that close to 7.2 billion passengers will travel by air in 2035, which is nearly double than the number in 2016 (3.8 billion). Also, military forces across the globe are strengthening their military fleet with new-age aircraft that have improved mission capabilities. With the development and procurement of every new aerial combat system comes the need for obtaining associated simulator and training systems.

Further, the report states that one of the major factors hindering the growth of this market is Ambiguities with simulation systems. Though simulators have by large replicated the real time flying experience using advanced and innovative simulator solutions, there still lies a certain amount of uncertainty with respect to the real-time performance. During simulation, one cannot perceive the real magnitude of danger and has a different psychological impact on the body and mind of the pilots. In most instances, pilots fail to realize the intensity of the danger that they might encounter in real time.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
