Acaricides are a kind of insecticides that form a necessary part of the crop protection chemical industry. These are manufactured and used for controlling various species of arthropod pests, heavily occurring in plant and animal bodies. These products are one of the cornerstones of an efficient control program for phytophagous mites in Europe. European region is one of the major markets for acaricides, and the market here is projected to grow at a higher rate as compared to that in the North American countries. The market in the region is slated to grow at a CAGR of 5.7% during 2015-2020.

The increasing occurrences of tick and mite-borne diseases in the European agricultural sector in the recent past have paved the way for high market growth for acaricides in Europe. There are a number of acaricides available, varying in concentration like- chlorine, phosphorus, zinc and tin. In case of application, agricultural industry consumes the lion share of the market. Acaricides are more frequently used for vegetables and fruits (75% of the market) including vines and citrus. However, with the increasing spider mites attack, crops like soybean, cotton and corn have seen increasing acaricides application in the fields.

Growing demand for high productivity in both agricultural and animal based sector and the demand for crop and animal based products are the major driving force for the market in Europe. Europe, while being one of the most active regional markets globally, also possesses huge challenges for future growth due to growing concern over environmental safety. The regulatory challenges can be dealt with largely by IPM practices in agricultural lands.

European acaricide market is a quite developed market and hence all the global companies have been trying to have a strong hold in this regional market. The market place is dominated by Europe based agrochemical companies like BASF, Bayer and Syngenta etc.
