The Vietnam organic fertilizers market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 11 % in 2015-2020 period. The market value estimated during 2015 was USD 755.7 million and it is expected that the value will reach to USD XX million by 2020. Microbe based biofertilizers, with its versatile approach towards plant productivity, accounts for majority of the market share in the country. The market value for biofertilizers would reach USD XX million by 2020 at a CAGR of XX%.

In Vietnam, the organic fertilizers industry has been witnessing a relatively steady to high growth due to growing demand of agricultural produce in the region. While the prevalence of chemical or synthetic based fertilizers application in agricultural land would continue, human, animal and environmental health concerns would play key roles in driving growth for safer products like organic and biofertilizers. Specific major drivers for the organic fertilizers industry outlined in this report include adoption of new farming practices, growing demand for food safety and quality, high prices of organically produced crops, high prices of organically produced crops, increased regulations on chemical residue limits and increase in arable land. On the negative side, restraints limiting market growth include high synthetic fertilizers’ demand and easy regulatory structure, low product availability and low consumer awareness among others.

The Vietnam organic fertilizers market is divided into two major segments, depending on the source of nutrients and raw materials: organic residue based fertilizers and biofertilizers. Organic residue based fertilizers are mainly derived from various animal/plant based residues, along with mineral ores. This fertilizer is applied in bulk or in concentrated form, depending on the nutrient level content in the particular residue mass. The market can be described based on the major product types like farm yard manure (FYM), crop residues, green manures etc. Other products included in this segment are animal based products like blood meal, bone meal and mineral based products like Epsom salt. Further the biofertilizers market can be described on the basis of the various microorganism strains from which the products are derived. Out of the many bacterial strains, nitrogen fixing microorganisms like Rhizobium, Azotobacter and Phosphate solubilizing bacteria are commercially more popular due to their higher usage in many food crops. Azotobacter is one of the popular nitrogen fixing bacteria that accounts for more than 20% of the market share in Vietnam. By application area, organic fertilizers demand has been analyzed in terms of crop-based (including grains & cereals, oilseeds and fruits & vegetables) and non-crop-based (including turf & ornamental grass and other non-crop-based applications).

The analysis of major companies in the organic fertilizers industry takes into account the strategy adopted, financial revenues and the latest developments in the market. Some of the leading players in Vietnam organic fertilizers market covered include Baconco Vietnam, Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, Bioway-Organic 5c, Shanghai Megchem Company ltd, Can Tho Fertilizer & Chemical JSC, ANH VIET Co. Ltd among others.
