The UAE hair care market is worth US$ XXX.X million in 2015, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of XX.XX% to US$ XXX.X million by 2020. Under personal care, UAE is one of the rare markets to exhibit high hair care market growth, which is expected to sustain over the next few years.

There are an estimated more than 3,000 hair salons in the Arabian Gulf, and according to recent data, hair care is set to outgrow toiletries and cosmetics sales in UAE. There are two reasons for this. One is the increase in population in the UAE, driving up the sales of hair care products up. High disposable income and affluence will lead to higher value added, premium products by brands being introduced in the market, while a young population will lead to an increase in hair styling and colourant products like hair sprays, gels, and serums. Oil is being replaced with conditioners which claim to clean and strengthen hair, especially with the conditioning properties of olive and coconut oils, the home based hair conditioning used by Arab women traditionally.

In the professional hair care sector, experiencing growth, as well as retail hair care segment, one common factor observed is the multiple miscegenation, indicating a need to provide for products catering to the specific hair care and styling needs of several hair types in the region, including Caucasian, ethnic, etc.

Furthermore, the professional hair care is segmented by gender, wherein men and women attend separate parlours for religious purposes. Another trend observed here is that of Halal cosmetic & hair care products, in keeping with the religious sentiments of the region.
