Electrostatic precipitators are mainly used in coal fired plants to remove the ash particles from the Flue gases and work as emission control units. The combustion conditions and the fuel types changes throughout the plant operations and the conditions of the flue gases changes accordingly. The flue gases has to be removed properly before venting to prevent water and soil acidification and also leads to various environmental and health conditions. This led to efforts to reduce the harmful content from the flue gases.

Asia Pacific is the fastest growing region for the electrostatic precipitators market due to the increase in the power demand and urbanization. These are mostly used for the new power plants in reducing the energy costs and improving the efficiency of the systems and also used in retrofitting the existing plants. It is also estimated that the demand for these applications will increase in various industries like Hotels, Restaurants, Offices, research laboratories, etc.

The electro static precipitators possess high efficiency and can handle large volume of gases at high temperatures. This made them very important to the industries like steel, cement and especially the coal fired power plant. The dry electrostatic precipitators will occupy the largest segment as it is better in eliminating the dry dust particles such as incinerator ash, coal ash, wood ash, etc., and thereby responsible for the largest market share compared to the wet electrostatic precipitators.
