The market is expected to grow at a rate of XX%. Labyrinth compressors comprise of pistons on whose end several labyrinths are placed. Due to the Labyrinth Effect the entire structure can be made air tight. The specialty of labyrinth compressor is that it uses labyrinth seals. These seals are known for their exceptional ability to prevent gas leak. Its structure involves, multiple groves on its surface which are placed inside an axle or hole. There is little space available between these seal and any liquid or gas from the cylinder has to pass through these torturous path to escape. That is the reason why labyrinth compressors are known for their exceptional sealing ability.

Labyrinth compressors are known for their excellent characteristics. These are used in industrial gas industry, petrochemical industry, and polymer and poly silicon industry. It is because its ability to provide completely sealed operations. Similarly this is used in steel industry, food and beverage industry, operations in several gases etc. This is also because of contact less operation which ensures less expenses on maintenance and with added reliability.

The major driver of this type of compressor is its ability to reliable operations. Since the piston movement is such that it does not touch the walls of the cylinder, there is less chances of friction. Also in other piston driven compressors where there is contact between wall and piston which produces particles. But there is no such possibility in labyrinth compressors. So it is considered more reliable for various types of operations even handling dried and hazardous air with longer mean time before failure (mtbf). For recyclable gases this compressors is favoured since it provides completely sealed operations. However there are constraints attached to the labyrinth compressors also. Considerable effort has to be employed to design and manufacture this type of compressors. This results in additional cost attached to the production. The type of labyrinth seals used in the pistons determine the efficiency of the compressor. Any failure in these seals will undermine the entire operations.

Labyrinth compressor consists of several parts. This includes, electric motor, labyrinth seals, and piston. These piston push the gases which move out through narrow passage between seal and cylinder. Theses compressors can be either single stage or multi stage for providing improved operations.

Polymers in their scape and range have engulfed he modern society. In this regard, high pressure polymerization technique is employed to create different types of polymers. In this process, the ethylene is compressed at very high pressures of more than 2500 bar to create low-density polyethylene (LDPE). In this process there is need for a compressor that can handle high pressure and be leak proof. Labyrinth compressors perfectly fit the requirement in the process. Also since the labyrinth compressor pistons do not touch the wall there are no major wear and tear issues with labyrinth compressors. With growing demand for polymers the demand for labyrinth compressor is also on the upswing. Labyrinth compressor is an oil free compressor. It is known for its excellent handling of oil free and completely dried gases. In other piston type compressors there is friction between piston and the cylinder wall and this creates particles in the gas stream. Since there is no friction in the labyrinth compressor it can be suitable employed to handle combustible gases.
