The timing gears ensure that these lobes movement is synchronized. Liquid enters into the chamber at the gap formed by the lobes because of the pressure generated by the lobes which also moves the liquid around the vessel and throws at high pressure.

Due to its superior benefits over other types of compressors rotary lobe compressors are used in multiple industries. These are used in pulp and paper industry, chemical as well as food and beverage industry. Also in pharmaceutical and bio technology units these rotary lobe compressors are widely used. For air purification, fertilizer, cement, fisheries also these compressors are used.

The major driver for this type of compressor is its excellent sanitary conditions. Rotary lobe compressors display good clean-in-place and steam-in-place (CIP/SIP) characteristics that makes it popular in previously mentioned industries. Also these compressors are highly reliable and resist corrosion. These characteristics make them suitable for chemical industries. However some restraints are associated with this compressor. The output from this compressor is quite hot and this is not preferred by the clients. Also it has low suction attributes.

Rotary lobe compressors consist of several components like, rotor which is similar to other compressors. It also has pressure control system, motor speed control device, trunk piston as well as pressure valve. These can also be divided into two more types of being portable or stationary. These compressors also can be single stage or multistage, which is more prevalent.

The opportunities for this type of compressor includes its abilities to handle solid, slurries as well as liquids which make it suitable for multiple domains. Also since it has two lobes moving in opposite direction it can create continuous, intermittent and even reversible movement. So perfect movement control is possible with type of compressor. However the major issues come with it, which are the challenges to reduce pulsation and vibration which are generated in the process.
