New Report Released: - Global Commercial Vehicle Hill Assist System Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global commercial vehicle hill assist system market: Bosch, Continental, Knorr-Bremse, WABCO, and ZF-TRW.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Murata Manufacturing Co. and Delphi.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is rising popularity of autonomous terrain profiling. Automotive manufacturers are increasingly focusing on designing an autonomous system that automatically detects the type of terrain on which the vehicle is being driven and adjusts the driving systems on the vehicle accordingly. Automotive makers like Jaguar Land Rover are using technologies like surface identification and 3D path sensing, terrain based speed adaptation, overhead clearance assistance, and off-road connected convoy in their terrain prediction and assistance system.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is increased penetration of ABS and ESC systems in commercial vehicles. Increased penetration of ABS and ESC systems in commercial vehicles is decreasing the cost of manufacturing electronic sensors for commercial vehicles due to economies of scale. Hill assist systems derive inputs from the same sensors used by ABS and ESC systems. Hence, bundling of hill assist systems in commercial vehicles equipped with ABS and ESC systems would not lead to a substantial increase in total production costs to the OEM. Increasing number of commercial vehicles being equipped with ABS and ESC systems is expected to drive the market for commercial vehicles hill assist system during the forecast period.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is higher instances of thermal damage due to prolonged usage. Hill assist system stops the vehicle from moving backward while starting the vehicle from a slope and helps in maintaining control while moving down the slope. The system automatically detects the angle of slope and exerts pressure on the brakes. However, prolonged usage of the hill assist system can temporarily disable the system due to overheating of the braking system. Hill assist system would then require being switched on manually after undergoing service and inspection.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
