New Report Released: - Global White Biotechnology Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global white biotechnology market: BASF, Cargill, DuPont, and Novozymes.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Archer Daniels Midland, BioAmber, Borregaard, Codexis, Evolva, Fermentalg, and GEVO.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is increasing concern about climate change. Carbon dioxide is the second-largest contributor of GHG emissions. Since the industrial revolution, the burning of fossil fuels has increased the quantity of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. National carbon dioxide emissions are strongly related to wealth.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is increase in demand for biofuel. Biofuels are fuels produced from biomass. Biomass is an organic matter that produced from animals and plants. It includes wood, agricultural crops and products, aquatic plants, forestry products, waste and residues, and animal wastes. Biofuels can be used as a substitute for jet fuel. This helps reduce GHG emissions, which is driving their adoption across the world. For instance, in 2016, United Airlines announced a new initiative of integrating biofuels into its energy supply, which will reduce GHG emissions by 55%-60%.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is disadvantages of biofuels. Biofuels are derived from plant and animal by-products such as sugar, starch, and cellulose. They are produced from the fermentation of crops such as wheat, corn, sugar molasses, sugar beets, and sugar or starch. Due to the global shortage of sugar, the generation of biofuels from sugar has become debatable. In many countries, land that was used to harvest rice and maize is now being used to produce sugarcane and soybeans, which are not consumed directly by people. This causes a shortage of food. Land and resources are essential to produce crops that can produce biofuels. Hence, the shortage of food could affect the adoption of biofuels during the forecast period.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
