An electric vehicle otherwise called an electric drive vehicle, uses one or more electric motors for propulsion. These vehicles are powered through a collector system by electricity from off-vehicle sources, or may be self-contained with a battery and charger, solar panels or a generator for converting fuel to electricity. Most electric vehicles use lithium ion batteries since they have higher energy density, and longer life span. The advantages of the electric vehicles are spurring the growth of the market.
