  • The Acute Care Surgical Volume-Weighted Utilization Index fell by 1.4 points in Q1 2017 to 22.9.  However, the index still shows the acute care market in slight expansion.
  • Index declines are driven by lower reporting in surgical volumes and outpatient procedures in Q1.
  • Five of six measured regions had similar index declines when compared to the national figures, with the exception being the Northeast region which had a 16.9 point index increase in Q1.
