Methodology
Revenue was estimated for the forecast period by using supplier input on average selling prices, historical revenue and unit shipments, current economic statistical data, and the researcher's application demand forecast. Forecasts were developed using econometric modeling, in which these independent variables were defined to simulate current market conditions and forward-looking trends.
The publisher's application demand forecast is a model that uses end equipment shipment forecasts combined with an estimated consumption in each end equipment category. The estimated consumption is collected from OEM/CEM design engineers, the publisher teardown analysis, and/or a collection of reference designs from suppliers. Each device is evaluated for the total used in the design and a forecast is generated using the application shipment estimates and the total value of the product in the design.
Product market share data is assigned based upon supplier inputs to an annual survey and estimates made by our analysts using publicly available information.
