About Automotive Cabin Insulation

The noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) design of any vehicle depends mainly on application and segment of the vehicle. The NVH reduction is intended for making the ride quality better for the occupants of the vehicle. The cabin refinement or insulation is the part of NVH design quality. The cabin can be made silent by close analysis of the NVH transfer paths. The transfer path and the engine capacity are the major design imbedded consideration for the cabin refinement. The components considered for the entry channels are engine bay, dash panel, floor, roof, doors, trunk bay, windshield, and structural members.

The analysts forecast the global automotive cabin insulation market to grow at a CAGR of 5.57% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: - Global Automotive Cabin Insulation Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global automotive cabin insulation market: Autoneum, BASF, and FXI.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: 3M, Autins Group, Grupo Antolin, L&L Products, NITTO DENKO, Pritex, and TMAT.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is PU foam material to enter North America industrial vehicle application. The North American market for automotive cabin insulation in the commercial and industrial vehicle application prefer rubber material (various grades for different purposes). It is expected that PU foam will enter the North American market due to the merger between TMAT and Blachford - Acoustic Group. TMAT is a European manufacturer solving NVH issues for industrial and commercial vehicles with an annual capacity of 1.5 million liters of PU foam.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is increasing demand for premium features across standard segments. The automotive manufacturers compete aggressively in the mass volume segment of the vehicle sales. This has encouraged the OEM to introduce many optional features in the standard segments with upgrade features. The occupant cabin is the first thing that a customer considers 80% of the times when considering buying a vehicle after the cost and the efficiency of the engine. A premium cabin features found in the optional models of the standard and medium segments of vehicles have driven sales upward.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is major contribution is from the OEM supply, not an aftermarket service product. The NVH cabin refinement or insulation is applicable during the time of manufacturing and is sufficient to last for the complete service life of the vehicle. The replacement or repair only occurs if a vehicle has met with severe damage or issues internally. The aftermarket channel does not support the insulation products and processes entirely. The aftermarket has additional carpeting, floor mats, cushions, and seat covers, which are not a part of necessities for a vehicle. These products have low volume sales as the add-on does not complement the size, shape, and utility of the cabin aesthetic needs.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
